The Giants Are Real - And They Keep Coming Back
Have you ever wondered why giants keep appearing throughout the Bible? From the flood of Noah to David's battle with Goliath, these mysterious beings show up again and again. But here's what most people don't understand - there's a shocking pattern that reveals exactly who these giants really are and why God repeatedly destroys them.
The Pattern That Changes Everything
When we examine Scripture carefully, we discover something remarkable. Every time giants appear in the Bible, it follows the same devastating cycle:
Fallen angels mingle with human women
Giant offspring are born
God sends destruction
The cycle repeats
This isn't coincidence - it's divine judgment against an unholy corruption of humanity itself.
Genesis 6: Where It All Began
The Bible tells us plainly in Genesis 6 that "the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown." These weren't just ungodly men marrying godly women - these were fallen angels creating a hybrid race that God had to destroy in Noah's flood.
But here's the shocking truth: it didn't end with the flood.
Psalms 82: The Little 'g' Gods
Scripture reveals there are other gods (little 'g' gods) - not our supreme Almighty God, but fallen beings who have dominion on earth:
"God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods... I have said, Ye are gods, and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes." - Psalm 82:1,6-7
Notice something crucial: "ye shall die like men." When these fallen beings create offspring with human women, their giant children don't get eternal bodies - they die like men and are annihilated forever.
Isaiah 26: The Annihilation Truth
This is confirmed in Isaiah 26:14: "They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise."
While the Bible clearly teaches that all humans will stand before God in judgment, these giant offspring of fallen angels face complete annihilation. They will never rise again because they represent a corruption of God's creation that must be permanently destroyed.
David vs. Goliath: More Than You Think
When young David faced Goliath, everyone else had their eyes on the giant. But David had his eyes on the living God. Notice some fascinating details about Goliath:
Height: 6 cubits and a span
Armor pieces: 6 different pieces
Spear head: 600 shekels of iron
That's 6-6-6. Coincidence? You decide.
But here's the real point: David used a stone to defeat the giant. Keep that in mind as we look at prophecy.
The Stone Kingdom Prophecy
In Daniel 2, we see a prophetic vision of Christ's coming kingdom - described as a stone kingdom that will smash all earthly kingdoms:
"Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold" - Daniel 2:45
Just like David used a stone to defeat Goliath, Christ will return as the Stone to destroy the final kingdom of giants.
Daniel 2:43 - The Final Mingling
Here's where it gets prophetic. Daniel 2:43 tells us about the last kingdom before Christ returns:
"And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay." - Daniel 2:43
"They shall mingle themselves with the seed of men."
Who are "they"? The same fallen beings that have been mingling throughout history. The ruling kings right before Christ's return will be offspring of fallen angels - giants setting up a kingdom for Satan himself.
The Complete Destruction Pattern
Throughout Scripture, God's command regarding giants and their corrupted culture is always the same: total destruction.
In Deuteronomy 7:5, God commanded Israel: "But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire."
God wanted it all destroyed - not preserved, not studied, not displayed in museums or movies. Completely eliminated.
Modern Application: The Giants Are Still Here
Think about our culture today:
New York Giants (sports teams)
Jolly Green Giant (commercials)
Jack and the Beanstalk (fairy tales)
Thor movies with the tagline "In Gods We Trust"
We're surrounded by the very imagery God told His people to destroy. While we're not under Old Testament law, shouldn't we want to honor God with our entertainment choices?
The Second Samuel 21 Cleanup
After David killed Goliath, Scripture records the systematic elimination of Goliath's four brothers:
Ishbi-benob - killed by Abishai (2 Samuel 21:16-17)
Saph - killed by Sibbechai (2 Samuel 21:18)
Goliath's brother - killed by Elhanan (2 Samuel 21:19)
The six-fingered giant - killed by Jonathan (2 Samuel 21:20-21)
God was cleaning house, eliminating every last giant from that corrupt bloodline.
Revelation 12: The Final Casting Down
The pattern culminates in Revelation 12 when Satan and his angels are cast down to earth for the final time:
"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." - Revelation 12:9
During this time, those ruling kings - the offspring of the final mingling - will have prepared a kingdom for Satan. But Christ will return as the Stone Kingdom and destroy them all.
Matthew 24: As the Days of Noah
Jesus Himself confirmed this pattern would repeat:
"But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." - Matthew 24:37
There were giants in Noah's day. There will be giants again before Christ returns.
The Victory Is Sure
Here's the encouragement: every single time these giants appear, God destroys them. They never win. They never establish a lasting kingdom. God always sends His people to eliminate them completely.
Just like Caleb said in Joshua 14:12: "Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out as the LORD said."
If the Lord is with us, we shall be able.
Keep Your Eyes on God, Not the Giants
The lesson is clear: when everyone else had their eyes on the giants and was afraid, the victorious ones - Noah, Joshua, Caleb, David - had their eyes on the living God.
Don't focus on the giants. Focus on God.
He's the One who gives victory. He's the One who destroys the enemy. He's the One who will establish His kingdom forever.
The Stone Kingdom is coming, and every giant will be crushed beneath it.
