The Creation Shouts – But Are We Listening?
Have you ever looked up at the night sky and felt that overwhelming sense that there's something—Someone—greater than yourself? That's not just your imagination. According to Romans 1:20, that's God making Himself known through His creation.
"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:20).
The answer is yes—creation absolutely proves God. It's clearly seen. It's understood. All anyone has to do is look up or look out, and the evidence is right there. The Creator reveals Himself through what He has made.
Let me be straight with you: We live in a world that's obsessed with saving seals, trees, and manatees. Now, as a Christian, I'm all for being a good steward of what God has given us. When we have farm animals, we feed them, water them, and care for them—that's the Christian thing to do. But here's where we've got it backwards: we're trying to save creation while ignoring the Creator.
I'm not going to hug a tree. I'm going to hug a lost person and tell them they need Jesus Christ so they don't die and go to hell.
The Spiral Downward Nobody Wants to Admit
Here's something that'll ruffle some feathers: Evolution is a farce. Want proof? Just look around. Things aren't getting better—they're spiraling downward. Build a house and see what happens if you don't maintain it. Does it magically improve itself? No.
Since the fall in Genesis, humanity has been on a downward trajectory. And even though creation clearly proves God exists, Romans 1 gives us seven crystal-clear reasons why every single person still rejects this evidence and stands guilty before God—completely without excuse.
Why People Reject the Evidence: 7 Biblical Reasons From Romans 1
1. They Knew God But Refused to Be Thankful
"Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful" (Romans 1:21).
The first mark of guilt? Ungratefulness. People know there's a God, but they won't thank Him. As Christians, we need to check ourselves here. Colossians 3:15 tells us to "be ye thankful." How? By letting the peace of God rule in our hearts.
Not bitterness. Not depression. Not anger. The peace of God.
Remember Job? Lost 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 oxen, his children—everything in one day. His wife told him to curse God and die. You know what Job said? "The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD" (Job 1:21).
2. They Became Vain in Their Imaginations
"But became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened" (Romans 1:21).
Man's main downfall? Turning to his own reasoning instead of God's truth. Genesis 8 tells us the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth. In Jeremiah, every time "imagination" appears—eight times total—it's connected to an evil heart.
When you witness to someone and they reject the gospel, their heart didn't suddenly become dark when you showed up with John 3:16. It was already darkened.
3. Professing Wisdom, They Became Fools
"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" (Romans 1:22).
College professors teaching that we evolved from slime? They're not against faith—they're just against the Christian faith. They'll teach your kids they're nothing more than animals, products of survival of the fittest.
This is why fornication is on the rise—because if you're just an animal, why not act like two stray cats in an alley?
All that professor has to do is walk outside, look up, and acknowledge the Creator. But he won't.
4. They Changed God's Glory Into Man's Image
"And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man" (Romans 1:23).
From Genesis 3, when the serpent said "ye shall be as gods," humanity has been trying to be godlike. Greek gods, superheroes, American Idol—it's all the same idolatry.
Why do all these superheroes run around wearing their underwear as outerwear anyway? You're not God. You're not going to fly. But one day, if you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, you'll have a glorified body that's truly supernatural.
5. They Worshiped Birds
The Phoenix—the "immortal bird" that regenerates itself. The Thunderbird with supposed superpowers. Greek mythology's eagles serving as messengers for Zeus.
I thought Christians were the ones born again by the Spirit of God, not some mythical bird.
6. They Worshiped Four-Footed Beasts
Egyptians worshiped bulls. Hindus worship elephants. These are animals created by God, yet people bow down to the creation instead of the Creator.
You know what's packed more than any church on Sunday? Football stadiums. Grown men painting their faces, wearing wings, flapping around like eagles for three hours. But ask them to sit in church for 40 minutes? "I don't have time."
You're not a bird. You're not a football player. If you went out on that field, you'd get hurt like I would.
7. They Worshiped Creeping Things
"And creeping things" (Romans 1:23).
How low can humanity go? Worshiping things that don't even have legs, that just creep about the earth. Since the fall, mankind isn't getting better—it's getting worse and worse.
The Golden Calf Syndrome Still Lives
Remember Aaron and the golden calf in Exodus 32? "These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt" (Exodus 32:4). Aaron tried to pass the blame, but Moses called it what it was—a great sin.
We're still doing the same thing today. We'll worship gold, success, sports, entertainment—anything but the God who created us.
The Bottom Line: Creation Proves It, We Just Suppress It
Does creation prove God? Absolutely. Man is without excuse. Creation is understood and clearly seen. All anyone has to do is look up and look out to know there's a God.
The gospel witness doesn't make someone guilty—they're already guilty. They can see the proof in creation, but they suppress it. The gospel offers the solution: Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, who can illuminate those darkened hearts and open their eyes to what's been clearly visible all along.
Stop trying to elevate and glorify yourself. Those trophies fade, medals collect dust, and next year there's a new champion. Only what's done for Christ lasts.
