Is Jesus God?

John 1:1-4

The Bible gives us four accounts of the Gospel, each presenting a different view of the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew portrays Him as the King of the Jews. Mark emphasizes His role as a servant, focusing more on His marvelous works than His words. Luke highlights His humanity and compassion, showing a hands-on approach. But the Gospel of John stands apart—this book is dedicated to revealing the absolute deity of Jesus Christ.

The Book the World Rejects

The Gospel of John is powerful. It declares Jesus Christ as God. This is why false religions reject it. Muslims, Buddhists, evolutionists, and humanists all despise John’s Gospel because it leaves no room for doubt—Jesus is God in the flesh.

Jesus boldly proclaims, "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30). He declares, "Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58), proving His eternal nature. He affirms, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father" (John 14:9). These statements confirm His divine authority and equality with God the Father.

The book of John is written so that every sinner on the face of the earth could have everlasting life. That is the power in this Gospel.

The Word Existed Before Time

John 1:1 declares:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Before creation, before time itself, the Word already existed. Whatever point you try to call “the beginning,” God predates it. Genesis 1:1 states,"In the beginning, God..."—and John’s Gospel echoes this truth.

The Bible does not argue for God's existence; it declares it. "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God" (Psalm 14:1). The world may try to rid itself of God, but He remains sovereign.

The Word Became Flesh

John 1:14 says:

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

This verse emphasizes Christ’s incarnation—God became flesh and lived among us. He is co-equal with the Father, working in perfect unity.

The Word is a Person, Not Just a Message

John’s Gospel makes a crucial distinction: "The Word" (capital W) refers to Jesus Christ Himself, not just His teachings. Modern Bible versions blur this distinction, but the King James Bible preserves it clearly. The capital W "Word" refers to Jesus as a person, while the lowercase w "word" refers to the written Scriptures.

False religions, including Jehovah’s Witnesses, deny this truth. They claim Jesus was "a god" rather than God Himself. But John 1:1 states plainly: "the Word was God."

Jesus Christ: Creator of All Things

John 1:3 affirms Christ’s role in creation:

"All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made."

Many modern Bible versions change "by Him" to "through Him," subtly diminishing Christ’s direct role in creation. But the King James Bible leaves no doubt—Jesus Christ is the Creator, not merely an agent through whom God worked. "For by him were all things created" (Colossians 1:16).

Science falsely so-called tries to replace our Creator with evolution and humanism. But God created man in his own image (Genesis 1:27). The world teaches children to trade belief in God for the lie of evolution, but young people must stand firm. God made you, and He has a purpose for your life.

The Light of Men

John 1:4 says:

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men."

Jesus Christ is the source of both physical and spiritual life. The sun provides light to the world, but Christ, the Son of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2), gives eternal light. Without Him, mankind walks in darkness.

As believers, we reflect His light—just as the moon reflects the light of the sun. We have no light of our own, but we shine because Christ is in us. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid." (Matthew 5:14). Are you reflecting the light of Christ?

The Word, The Life, The Truth

The world is filled with distractions and deceptions, but true life is found only in Jesus Christ. "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." (1 John 5:12).

John’s Gospel reveals a profound truth: The eternal God, the Word, became flesh to die for our sins so that we might live. Whether you see Jesus as a King (Matthew), a Servant (Mark), the Son of Man (Luke), or the Son of God (John)—He is the Savior of the world.

Do you know Him?
